Kids Make Friends for Life During A Summer Camp Program

I can speak from experience when stating that kids really do make friends for life when they attend a summer camp program.  If you never had an opportunity to go to summer camps when you were a kid, you may not know what it means to form extremely close bonds with other people in an extremely short amount of time, namely in a matter of days or weeks.  Of course,  many adults have best  friends and very close  family members, but did you meet and befriend them in a span of 48 hours.  This is the wonderful magic of a summer camp program.

The secret is that  a involves a lot of group activity on an intense and continual basis.  It is exactly this cooperative and survival ‘type’ of activities (with no danger involved, usually) that triggers an environment where  people can become really close to one another in an extremely short span of time.   There are that offer a very  narrow focus.  These programs center on one activity or one type of activity such as horseback riding, dancing, or outdoor sports in general.   This is a fertile ground to bring kids with similar interests and passions together for a wonderful and memorable experience.  And that is just what great life-long friendships are made of.

When I was a kid, I didn't get to go to a traditional summer camp. However, I was in Campfire for Boys and Girls during one year of grade school, and we had a weekend camp. I made a few really good friends, very quickly. It was a new experience for not only me, but the girls in my cabin, so that helped us bond.

I'd recommend getting your children involved in some kind of camp program. It's truly a magical experience for kids.
