Even though a camping experience involves getting away from the
technological gadgets that we use on a daily basis in our modern
live's, this doesn't mean that your going to have to deal with
conditions that aren't decent. Most RV parks, and camping
grounds have a grill, or fire-pit and picnic table, as well as
showers and bathroom facilities. Others have much more extensive
facilities, like heated pools, cable TV and wireless Internet
access. Aside from the pitched tents, you can also rent cabins,
cottages and lodges.
You will find that camping is appealing to you and your kids.
There are tons of enjoyable activities available for the kids to
do on a camping trip. Most RV parks are equipped with lakes for
swimming, boating and fishing, hiking trials, basketball courts
and playground facilities. Many will include activities such as,
nature crafts, free movies, and ice cream socials for the kids.
Camping vacation will give you plenty of time to play with the
kids, and at the end of the day you can enjoy a beautiful sunset
together, and watch for shooting stars.
Not only is camping fun and exciting for both kids and adults
alike. Its also affordable. The cost for a family of four to go
on a camping trip is less than $1000, and this includes the cost
of buying new gear (tent, sleeping bags, cooler, camp stove).
New gear will most likely cost about $600, and the typical
campground fee is usually less than $200 a week. You should
expect to spend about $200 on groceries. If you already have
camping gear, then the camping trip will cost even less.

Camping is a great way to get away from it all whilst still sticking to a budget. I live in the UK, and I managed to get started on next to nothing - camp sites here usually offer a variety of prices starting at next to nothing for a pitch and nothing else, and gradually increasing to include a private shower and bathroom area instead of using the communal washrooms.
I do think that if you decide to buy camping gear instead of staying in a caravan, that it is worth paying a little extra. The first time I stayed in a tent it rained and the water pooled and leaked through the top because the material was very poor. When I bought my own tent I paid extra for one with two skins (I'm not sure what the technical term is) and it saved a lot of grief.
