Enjoy Holiday Time at a Traditional Summer Camp

The modern trend is to place value on 'bigger' and 'faster' – technology and features are often valued over quality and reliability, and in many cases – such as cars, a sleek, sporty and good looking model is preferable over a more boring, but perhaps more reliable and sturdy one.

When it comes to vacations for the family, many people choose amusement parks and glitzy resorts over more traditional holiday retreats.  This is unfortunate, as a traditional summer camp offers much in terms of quality time, relaxation, and interesting new experiences for children.

Build Great Memories at Traditional Summer Camps

When children attend a traditional summer camp, many wonderful experiences await them.  First, traditional summer camps offer a variety of options for a child to engage in physical exercise. Hiking is a perfect way to both experience the joy of nature as well as exercise by walking. Going for a bike ride is another relaxing, yet physical form of exercise. Instead of children sitting behind a TV, computer or video game, they are encouraged to get outdoors and get fresh air and sunshine. Canoeing or boating is another delight which is offered to the campers, especially when the camp is situated beside a lake or river.

There are so many possible activities available at a traditional summer camp – including swimming – either in a lake, or, if the camp is not located near one, a pool on the site; sports such as basketball and baseball, camp recitals and group games.  There are some camps that are faith based and include worship and Bible study sessions, along with discussions about faith related issues.

Relax and Unwind at a Traditional Summer Camp

Traditional summer camps offer visitors a chance to get away from the daily grind for a while.  They are a break from the usual daily routine, and take campers back to a simpler time with no obligations, and no pressure to rush from chore to chore.  The camps are a great place to form new friendships – many of which last even after the holiday ends.  A traditional summer camp also provides several learning opportunities, and is a good venue for personal growth.

The fun of a traditional summer camp is something that children of all ages can enjoy – there are day camp options available for younger children who may not yet be ready for an overnight stay, and older children and teenagers are likely to relish the opportunity to spend a week or so in a log cabin or special camp lodgings.  No matter what kind of camp, or how long the stay, your children will have the experience of a lifetime.

I live in the UK, and when I see 'Summer Camp' I automatically think 'Boot Camp' but for kids. I don't think that is it though (though I sometimes wish there was one!)
