Must Have Camping Accessories

Camping accessories are incredibly handy – not just for camping, some of them are useful for short trips, days out at air shows, or when you have to put up unexpected visitors for a while. Still, their primary use is to make your camping experience that little bit more fun, and that is what we will be looking at here.

Camping Stoves

One of the most useful camping accessories that is good to have in any emergency kit is a small gas stove. How small? You can get them as small as your hand. They consist of a frame to screw on a gas canister of a specific size and a base to put a small pot of kettle on. They are very light, tough and water resistant. If you want to do bigger cooking projects, there are gas stoves that about half the size of a barbecue. They are mainly two cooking rings like on the top of your stove at home and a hose to connect to a great big canister of gas. Since they are flammable, treat them with care and keep out of the reach of children, pets and alcoholics.

Water Purification

Water purifiers are an essential piece of kit if you will be spending any time away from home. They are sold at sporting, boating, and camping stores, and are usually quite small and portable – they are simple to use, although they can take some time to work so you will need to be patient when filtering the water.

If you are taking a long trip and can't carry enough water with you for the entire trip, then a water purification device is essential – the human body needs to be constantly hydrated, and drinking unclean water from a river or stream could be very dangerous.

The smallest and lightest water purifiers are pills and Ultra Violet light pens. They only purify a small amount of water at a time. If you need more water purified at a quicker rate, consider reverse osmosis pumps. They are heavier, more expensive and need some practice to get the hang of, but these overlooked camping accessories could save you from a nasty hospital stay.

Camp Beds and Bedrolls

Camp beds are usually small, fold out beds that keep you elevated slightly off the ground to protect you from damp. They can be difficult to carry if you are backpacking and moving on foot, but they are often worth it if you are camping in cooler climates.

Bedrolls are light, relatively inexpensive, and easy to carry. They are usually made of foam, and are good for both increasing your comfort level and keeping you warm during the night.
