Guidelines For Choosing The Right Camping Cookware
Camping is a strenuous activity, and it is important that you get plenty to eat. You could live on sandwiches and cereal bars, but if you want to enjoy your trip, then ideally you will want to be able to cook, which means choosing some good camping cookware .
Cooking For Everyone
Always keep in mind when choosing camping cookware that you will have to carry it around. You want as few pieces as possible to deal with. Figure out first how many people you will be cooking for. If you are only cooking for yourself, you only need a few pieces of camping cookware. There are camping cookware kits for just two people that are lightweight, fire resistant and tough. Even if you plan on camping by yourself, you should assume (or hope) that someone might join you. If the cookware is light enough, it’s good to have spares of the main cooking utensils, as they usually have a habit of going missing, and eating with your fingers is not always possible or hygienic.
What Kind of Camping Trip?
Camping means many different things to different people – some people like to rough it and just camp in a tent with a small stove and a sleeping bag. Other people head to a cabin or stay in a RV with a small kitchen – this is slightly more comfortable, but still different and relaxing enough that it can be enjoyable. If you are the RV type of camper, then you can make do with taking some utensils from your own kitchen instead of using specialist camping gear. Just be careful about the utensils you take – some things, such as Teflon coated utensils, are not ideal for camping trips as the coating is easily damaged.
If you prefer a more authentic experience, then a survival shop should offer everything you need – you can get special lightweight cookware kits that stack inside each other to take up minimal space when not in use. This camping gear requires constant attention while in use, as the pans are quite thin, but if you are after the authentic experience then they are ideal to use.
The Most Important Item
The single most important piece of camping cookware is a water container – you should purchase a strong bottle, flask, or other container to keep clean drinking water in – you can survive without food for a couple of months, but you will be dead within a couple of days without water. Make sure you take plenty of spare drinking water with you!

I can vouch that some cookware is very thin - I've totally ruined food when I've been camping and cooking on a fire before. These days I prefer to just do simple stuff - boil water and make a pot noodle, lol.
You can get some nice camping stoves which are lightweight and sufficient for a couple of meals - and the stands they come with keep the cookware away from the flames, so there's less chance of things going wrong.
