An Air Mattress For Camping Keeps You Comfortable While Camping
Camping trips are a great way to get away from it all, and get back to basics – but there are some modern luxuries that should never be left behind. Sleeping on a rough, rocky piece of ground, for example, is not fun. That is why an air mattress for camping is so useful – it is lightweight, easy to transport, and come in a variety of sizes. It is also much, much more comfortable than the ground!
You Get What You Pay For
Some cheaper air mattresses for camping have one chamber bladder, and are just designed to keep you raised off the ground slightly. The problem with these is that it only takes one puncture to have you sleeping on the ground again. Better air mattresses for camping have multiple chambers, so one puncture will not cause too much of a problem, as the other chambers will remain inflated.
When going camping, always plan on how the air mattress for camping will be inflated. While some campgrounds have air compressors for just that reason, many do not. Besides, lugging a large air mattress to the dedicated compressor and back can be a trial of its own. Having a foot pump makes inflating an air mattress for camping easier and will not require someone to manually inflate one by blowing into it for hours.
Ensure That You Have The Right Pumps
Many camping stores sell pumps that can be used to inflate air mattresses for camping quickly – these plug in to the 12-volt plug found in most cars, and will inflate you mattress in a couple of minutes without you needing to do any legwork. You can also get larger pumps that run on 120 volts, and can be used for bigger mattresses – these could be used at a camp site that offers electricity, and make short work of getting your mattress nice and comfortable.
Tips For Setting Up Your Camping Air Mattress
Before you lay out your mattress, check the ground for sharp rocks or other foreign objects. Try to find a flat area of ground to lay it out, so that it is as comfortable as possible, and won't slip around inside the tent. You may need to have a felted sheet to place it on, as if you put it straight on the plastic ground sheet it may slide all over the place while you are trying to sleep.
Some air mattress for camping have one side coated with a softer material, which is much more comfortable to sleep on than the plastic or rubber of the other side. You may find it more comfortable if you lay a blanket on top of the mattress, as it will protect you from the cold. Even if you are using a sleeping bag, some form of sheet over the mattress will give you a much more comfortable nights' sleep. And a good nights sleep, means you will wake up energized and refreshed to explore the outdoors the following day.
