Summer Camp Activity: What Memorable Summers Are Made Of

Each summer, thousands of children, both adolescents and teenagers head off to summer camp for a week or more. This time of fun and adventure can be a wonderful experience of learning and growing for many of these youngsters. Camps come in all types, places and themes. The experiences many of these children have and the knowledge they acquire while attending these camps can stay with them for a lifetime. There are various types of a activity which make their stay enjoyable, wholesome and just plain fun.

Many Kinds of a Summer Camp Activity

A specific type of summer camp activity can vary greatly from camp to camp; some camps have a more specific goal than others, such as a sports-oriented camp. At these camps, the activities would be mostly centered on exercising and learning more about the sport, whether it is basketball, baseball, soccer, or a host of other options. at an outdoor adventure camp might include canoeing or white water rafting, fishing, horseback riding, or hunting.

While visiting a faith-based camp, such as a Christian camp, the campers may participate in worship services, Bible studies, and other religious gatherings. Crafts are generally a part of many children’s summer camps, as well as swimming and hiking.

During the initial arrival stage of the campers, many getting-to-know-you activities are planned by the staff. Group sings are often a part of the summer camp activity, as well as group hikes, sightseeing tours, and even bus excursions. Some camps are created for people to come and stay for an entire week in a lodge or cabin. Others offer day camps where the participants come in the morning and return home in the evening.

The summer camp activities vary depending on the type of camp it is. Many camps offer full cafeteria meals and luxurious accommodation. Others are very primitive, and campers are there to live in the wild, with no restroom facilities, no showers, no accommodation other than a tent, and no prepared meals.

Hello,
I am physician and founder of a free service for anyone that goes to any type of camp or summer camp. It enables people or parents to make sure that their children have an accurate record of their medications and their allergies and their medical problems before leaving for camp. This info and this record can be created and accessed or printed off for free and is a very valuable tool in reducing the risks associated with medical mistakes that can happen in summer camp's infirmaries. The website is committed to camp safety in infirmaries and may be found at http://www.CampMedic.com.

Dear Campmedic:

This looks like a very valuable service. We often take camp safety for granted, but in the unfortunate event that something happens, its a good idea to have all relevant medical information readily available.

Thanks for this valuable information.

I really like this idea camp medic I do not believe we have such ideas in the U.K. When the children goto camp with scholl or otherwise the child has to be able to self-administer or there has to be a qualified health professional available to administer.

Even the knowing list of conditions etc would be of help in circumstances.

Great idea. Piece of mind for parents/guardians
