While you have to leave your kitchen at home when you are camping, that does not mean that you have to stop eating.  Convenience foods may not be an option, and the lack of a massive oven means you can't cook a full gourmet meal, but camping food does not have to equal soggy sandwiches, crackers, and water.  You can still enjoy a decent meal.

Camping is supposed to be a way for you to get away from it all – not take it all with you.  When you go camping, you will need a tent, something to sleep in, something to cook with, and something to wear.  Anything else is extra – sure, there may be things you feel you need to make the trip more comfortable, but you probably don't need as much as your instincts first tell you.

Murphy's Law goes 'anything that can go wrong, will go wrong' – if you believe that, then you should always take a camping first aid kit with you when you are going on a camping trip.  They don't take much space, and they are always useful to have just in case there is an accident.  The chances are nothing will go wrong, but if you don't have your first aid kit with you, and someone does get injured, then you will regret it.

A Basic First Aid Kit

It is possible to make a simple first aid kit from supplies you already have at home, or you can buy a specially made first aid kits from a camping store or sporting goods store.  The most important thing is that the first aid kit is small, portable, in a waterproof container, and they contain everything you need.  If you are making your own first aid kit, then put everything in ziplock bags to keep it safe and dry.
